Tuesdays With Dorie: No Floating Islands but Lots of Chips

February 10, 2009

I didn’t make the Floating Islands this week.   I did do some baking ahead, so the next two recipes are ready to post – stop back next Tuesday!

I’d like to take a minute to say how much fun I’m having with this group. Everyone is so nice, and the creativity out there blows me away.  After reading about all the creative mix-ins for the World Peace Cookies, I went out in search of some of those ingredients. I found nothing interesting at my regular grocery store, but I hit the jackpot at the Fancy Grocery Store. Reese’s Baking Pieces, Hershey’s Cinnamon Chips, and Guittard Cappuccino Chips.  Now in-stock in my pantry!

I picked a new design for my blog – same blog, just a new shell.  I noticed that sometimes people would submit a comment that was obviously meant for a different post and with this new design, the comment link is at the bottom of the post instead of at the top. If the comments still get mixed up, well I tried!

  1. Those little bitty reese’s are one of my favorite ‘chips’ — we also love the cinnamon ones, I used those for the World Peace cookies, yum! I haven’t seen the cappuccino chips before but they sound delicious. Don’t worry about missing the Floating Islands, on to next week 🙂

  2. Ciao ! Those islands were great you’ll have to try them sometimes !!

  3. I skipped the islands too. And like you, I’m all done baking for February. Nice additions to your stash there. I can never find any of those in my local store.

  4. I just bought some the guittard cappuccino chips this weekend, too!!! I haven’t yet decided what to do with them, though…

  5. I need to find those cappuccino chips! How amazing!

  6. Good finds. I bet the cappuccino chips are especially good.

  7. The chips look great. I organized my baking ingredients this weekend – my drawers were bursting. TWD has been a bunch of fun. Love your new template.

  8. I’ve really enjoyed the TWD experience, too. I think I’m growing as a baker, an eater and a writer, and finding so many cool blogs I never would have discovered without Dorie!
