No TWD for me, thanks to my bum knee

May 26, 2009

This week’s Tuesdays With Dorie recipe is Chipster-Topped Brownies, selected by Beth of Supplicious. Chocolate chip cookie dough baked on top of brownies sounds delicious! But my knee is still out of service, so baking is not happening this week. I can’t wait to see what variations the TWD Bakers came up with!

Since I haven’t baked anything, here’s a photo of some lovely sweets I enjoyed for tea at the Chicago Peninsula Hotel.

  1. I’m sorry you’re still out of commission. Feel better soon!

  2. Ugh Knee problems are the worst! I had knee surgery last year, so I feel your pain literally. Hang in.. it gets better!

  3. That’s NO excuse! (just kidding). Actually I about tore mine apart bending down every minute trying to see if they were done baking or not! Hope you’re on the road to recovery!

  4. I hate to hear your knee is bothering you. Nothing like a bad knee when you want to putter around in the kitchen. At least it looks like from your picture that you’re being fed some delicious stuff! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. mmm, I’ll take that one right in the front –

Hope your knee is better soon!

  6. i hope you recover soon:)

thanks for posting the photos of the treats–i haven’t been there for tea (have been to the drake:)

  7. Looks like you’re on the right track to healing the knee – recovery through sweets! This was an OK week to miss at TWD…

  8. I’m sorry to hear your knee isn’t feeling better. You are smart to take it easy; it’s much better to recover quicker than continue to stress it out. Those treats look fabulous!

  9. I hope your knee feels better! This one was a good one to miss. A lot of us had mixed results.

  10. Ohhh I’d hurt my knee to have some of those treats! Feel better!!!!

  11. I hope your knee feels better soon. The tea sounds fantastic!

  12. Knees are tough to keep in shape. Hope your is better. But lucky you to Have a beautiful tea.

  13. Hope your knee feels better soon…I think chocolate might help it feel better sooner!

  14. so sorry about your knee!! but on another note, isn’t the peninsula chicago’s afternoon tea the BEST?! i will plunk down $50 any day for the delicious little bites and a glass of champagne. and have you tried their evening chocolate bar? oh…to die for ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I’ll add the Peninsula’s chocolate bar to the list of things to do the next time I’m in Chicago! The afternoon tea is definitely a worthy splurge: a leisurely afternoon with lots of delicious food and great service.
